Most smartphone users can produce an interesting panorama from their devices with a little bit of practice. I first practiced with film cameras three decades ago. Now, with a variety of technologies, I create both print and digital creations of astounding detail and interactivity.
These may be animated 3D renderings for VR headsets, panoramic, 360 degree vistas like the one below, or ultra-high resolution images such as created for the Mural Arts Philadelphia Program.

gigapixel photography
This example shows levels of detail. Use either your mouse scroll-wheel or the "+" icon to some in on various parts of the image. You can read text that's over a mile away or more on building facades and street signs while still zooming back out to see "the big picture". The logos of the downtown building are mere smudges while viewing the entire scene but the multi-image capture allows you to zoom in and discern almost every single logo, ten miles away.
